How to Get Defined Curls on Natural Hair

Hey Curlies,

A twist and curl will be my style for this week! I washed, conditioned, twisted and set my hair on flexi rods for a curly look. Here's how I got this look:

I wore my hair in the Marley bun for about four days but over time I remember why I don't like to use regular styling gel...it flakes! Over time, my hair (specifically around my edges) became full of white flakes. Ugh! It was definitely time to rewash my hair.

I washed with Shea Moisture's Jamacian Black Castor Oil Shampoo and conditioned with (the last of) my Mill Creek Botanicals Aloe Vera Conditioner. I then detangled and applied ApHogee's ProVitamin Leave-In Conditioner and pure Shea Butter. I twisted my hair into about 20 twists and set about two to three twists on orange and red flexi rods.

I did this entire process in about an two hours and began around 11 a.m. I left my rollers in the entire day and wore a hat.

The key to a great style is to throughly detangle. If you don't it will be hard to separate your curls, which will then turn into frizz.
