Hey Curlies,
We have a little one on our hands and her name is Ms. Bree!
Name: Elena Cunningham
Social Media Names: Caramel
Curlz & Swirls
Hair Type: 3c/4a
URL: www.caramelcurlz.blogspot.com
How long have you been natural?:
Ms Bree has been natural all her life. She is 4 1/2 years old
now.
A short regimen you can share:
I wash her hair with sulfate free shampoo at least once a
month; I co-wash her hair (with or without style) when necessary; I deep conditioned her hair once a month and I keep her hair
in protective styles most of the time.
What are some of your favorite products?:
Our staple products are from the Bee Mine
Natural & Organic Line: Luscious Moisturizer; Curly Butter, Bee Loved Scalp
& Hair Moisturizer as well as the Deep Conditioner. Creme of Nature Argan
Oil Moisturizing Shampoo is the best one I have found for her.
What are some of your favorite styles?:
Ms Bree prefers her hair lose and big;
but enjoys it when her hair is in cornrows or box braids because of the easy
everyday maintenance. After all she is only four years old and the only thing
she wants to do is play!
What is your most favorite and least thing about being
natural?:
I can say that the only thing
she does not enjoy is the time it takes to wash her hair. Especially when the
washing sessions include the "pre-poo step" and/or "deep
conditioning" step.
What is one piece of advice that all women should
have(pertaining to confidence)?:
Never
think you are less valuable because you don't look like what society qualifies
as beautiful (skinny, long straight hair..bla bla); Everybody is beautiful in
their own unique way. So love yourself from head to toes, always walk with
confidence and absolutely no one will be able to bring you down.
What natural hair bloggers/vloggers inspire you?:
The blogger who inspired me almost a year and
a half ago and who has continue to support me is Kandy from KandyLandKurls. But
I get inspired by every blogger who are proud to be natural and are constantly
rocking their curls. Bloggers who are now teaching their little ones that their
natural hair is beautiful.
Do you have any advice on going natural?:
Caring for natural hair is time consuming and
sometimes frustrating; your hair will not always be your best friend and
sometimes it will need to be put on time out!! Don't get discouraged, you will
learn as you go and once you find the technique and product that works for your
hair, you will be more than happy that you didn't quit. But nothing good in
this life is easy or fast right? As a parent of a curly cutie, I spent a lot of time with my
daughter teaching her how to love herself with big hair and all. Hair day, it's
our mother/daughter time together and our bond is stronger because of that.
