3 Ways to Dealing with Dryness

Hey Curlies,

I noticed that a lot of people seem to have problems with dry hair. I have this very problem with my scalp if left unattended. Here are three ways to dealing with dry hair:

  1. Co-wash: It's replacing your ordinary conditioner with shampoo. Shampoos can strip your hair of it's natural oils so skip that step and jump right to the conditioner. Many conditioners have active cleaning ingredients in them so that you hair still becomes clean. Look into the "curly girl method" if you would like to take it a step farther.
  2. Moisturize & Seal: Did you know that the order you apply products to your hair affect how your hair will retain moisture? Always apply a moisturizer either liquid or cream and then apply and oil on top to seal in the moisture.Tea Tree oil is great for dry scalp and any product with silicones is good for retaining moisture. 3. Deep Conditioning: I believe that this step is the key to hair growth. Apply your favorite conditioner, either instant or deep. Cover with a plastic shower cap and let sit for at least 30 minutes or more. For top deep conditioners, click here.
