Natural Hair: Braid Out on Transitioning Hair

Merry Christmas everybody!!!

So last night I started experimenting with my hair (like always) and after my hair dried in the twist, I fluffed it out and took each section that was twisted, I braided it. Using the Cantu Shea Butter to moisturize my new growth and ends. It took about 30 minutes to make about 8 braids and then I rolled the ends of each braid with rollers. I put my scarf on and went to bed! Here are some pictures. I think it turned out very good for my first one.

That's all for now ladies!

Hi Ladies!

So last night I had an awesome birthday.Spent the day with my significant other :). Got in at 3am! Whew man was I tired. Today is "Wash"day so I used my Aphogee Deep Moisturizing Shampoo, Pantene Relaxed and Natural deep conditioner and the Africa's Best Herbal Oil as a hot oil treatment also.

  1. Rinse my hair under the water really good and separate my hair down the middle with my fingers
  2. Use a generous amount of the Aphogee shampoo and began washing each side separately then rinsing separately with the water
  3. After washing only once really good with the shampoo, I move on the the conditioner
  4. Using the Pantene, I also used a generous amount and left it on for about 2 minutes
  5. After washing that out I used my preheated bottle of Africa's Best Herbal Oil and applied it to my hair in sections while still wet.
  6. I let that sit in for about 5 minutes and washed it out!
After Washing

After washing I separated my hair into 4 sections and detangled then applied the Aphogee Leave in conditioner to each section. Soon after I simply made 4 twist in each section and put my scarf on.Here are some pictures. I will post what it looks like after it dries later on tomorrow.

Birthday, It's Ya Birthday!

Hey Curlies

Well today is my birthday and I'm kind of excited but I don't have really much planned yet. It is only 12:30 in the morning lol.If their are any birthdays coming up let me know and I will definitely mention them :) Anyway I am moisturizing my hair right now.I know silly huh?? lol This is the process that I do every night before getting close with my pillow:

  1. Use ONLY the ends of a rat-tail comb and part my hair into 3/4 of a section and I gently massage the Cantu Shea butter on my scalp where I parted  my hair.
  2. Repeat that process all around my head (separating into sections and conditioning with the Cantu)
  3. After about 5 mins I'm done
  4. Next I take a nickel sized amount of it of the Cantu and gently rub it on the end of my hair(make sure not to use to much or it could weigh your hair down)
  5. Next I use the Africa's Best Herbal Oil and this time using only a DIME SIZED amount to rub on the ends of my hair and the front of my hair
  6. Easy part is next! I just throw on a bonnet to protect it all!
If anything is confusing just let me know :)

My Story

I decided to go natural June 2010 and I have been looking forward ever since. But before then I attempted to start in Dec 2009. My roots had gotten so thick and my hair began growing longer than it has ever been.Around May 2010 I was going to my senior prom and my mother pressured me to get a relaxer considering it was my "big day" and all. So I did it....ugh wish I didn't now. All my life I have been getting relaxers about every month or so. I guess this was an easy way or my mom to deal with my thickness.Right now I am about 32 weeks into it and man has it been rough! lol. My new growth is everywhere but I am learning how to tame it slowly but surely. Most of the time I continue to wear my hair straight until I chop off the rest of my relaxed ends. What got me interested in going natural was...well let's just say I was experimenting. While researching hair online, I heard that going natural is soo much healthier for your hair. So I began stretching out my relaxers and I continued to see my natural curl coming in. I LOVE IT! Another plus I got was length. My hair has grown so much over the last couple of months!

My Favorite Products Thus Far:
  • Cantu Shea Butter conditioning cream
I have been using this one for about 4 days now. lol I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I use it as an everyday moisturizer.
  •         Africa’s Best Herbal Oil
I use this as a hot oil treatment and to seal my ends

Well that's all for today ladies! Any questions or comments feel free to comment and I will reply with an answer :)
